Dashavtaar - The Divine Manifestation

When the darkness defined
the time, space and world
thou emerged as a ray of light
basked in thy divine radiance
the world sought it's existence
and the trilogy was born

while the great flood hit
and dowsed the cosmos
the mammoth fish, thou were
and drove ashore the ship of mankind
and the creation, prevailed

when the churning of the ocean began
for elixir of life,
the gods and demons fought
thou transformed as the magnanimous turtle
and held the staff on thy dependable shell

The devil conquered the worlds
and plunged it back into darkness
thou manifested as a wild boar
The Evil defeated,
and the world ,restored on thy tusks

On a devout call, thou
appeared from a pillar in the court hall
in a dreadful form
the half human, half animal
and tore the belly of the proxy-god
Justice restored, the solemn prayers, answered

Like a dwarf thou seemed
to the king who deemed to own the creation
in just three steps of thy lotus feet
one for the earth, one for the sky
the third crushed the pride of the king
thou claimed to be the supreme

with an axe thou came along
as the warrior-saint, the angered one
heads of the arrogant kings, blinded with power,
cut, the mighty axe laid to rest
drenched in blood, of the 'adharma'
the righteous lamp of dharma, lit again

The prince of ayodhya, then thou became
simplicity glittered, tolerance taught
thy form, nothing but a common man
thy courage, greater than the ten headed one
thy story, a book of morals
"The Ideal Man", thou art, still

from a prince to an exotic charmer,
with a flute in his hand
the blissful smile, conquered hearts
he who taught lessons of dharma
standing tall, in the battle ground
the infinite form revealed, the religion, authored

Path of renunciation then chosen
in search of truth, thou wandered
riches left far ashore the mortal land
re-born from the womb of spirituality
Bright, Enlightened, nonattached,
thou walked the way of Nirvana

since then, I Await
for thy manifestation, the next one
eager to offer thee my body and soul...

from a fish to a turtle
and then the boar
the half human, half animal
the dwarf, a saint, a king and a charmer
thou manifested in forms, unusual
I search for thee in the infinite
Unaware I am searching, in vain!
while thou crept in my soul
and wrote thy story through my pen
I Never Know.....
