The Daughter Of The Night

When the sun slumbered in to the deep
The dark night transcended with a moonlit cap
And light woke from a shadowy lap
She walked all alone over the streets
Drinking nectar from a tearful tap

Does she know her whereabouts?
Or do stars show her the way?
Pulling over a blanket of dismay,
She walked all alone over the streets
”Aimless stroll” the people say

A lonely walk into the darkness
Speaking to no one, not even to the self
Followed by her shadow, resembling an elf
She walked all alone over the streets
As if a philosopher exploring the true self

The moon looked to be her mirror
And Stars decked her long hair
The azure sky added the flair
She walked all alone over the streets
Offering the night, her painful elixir

All the night she stood at the end of the cliff
Gazing towards the Milky Way
And watched the hours of darkness play
The daybreak transformed her into an owl
Back in to the darkness she flew away

An unread book, an incomplete journey
An unfulfilled dream, a disconnected insight
Filled with darkness, yet so bright
An unsolved puzzle, a mystical bride
A soulful enigma, “the daughter of the Night”
