The Hour of death

The pillar shook vigorously
With the deadly blow of Hiranya's Mace
A marvelous light blinded the sight and
A dreadful figure emerged, with body of a human and a lion's face

Eyes burning red with anger
Mouth wide open, neck covered with the golden Mane
Claws, Sharp, Ready to rip
Evil defeated with the loud roar, for all his efforts went in vain

Minutes stopped, the creation halted
Sun dared to peep through the horizon
Mighty steps walked towards hiranya
Speechless he watched, his eyes drinking the frightful poison

Hiranya remembered! The brahaman's boon
"None shall kill me; in the day not at night"
But Lo! It was the hour of twilight
"Ha! I can't be killed on the ground or in the sky"
But he was on the thighs of death, neither low not high
"No arms or artillery could dare to hurt me"
But NAILS were no arms, artillery or army!
I can't be killed by a human, or by a beast
All pervading is he who had come, equally in humans and in beasts

Hiranya understood, the muscle of divinity
The sound of death filled his ears
On beholding a dreadful ecstasy
Prahallad murmured out of fear

Sharp nails pierced hiranya's stomach
Painful shouts tore the silence
With the angry roars the creation trembled
The world was rescued from his devilish violence

"Nara", the Human and "Simha" the lion
"Narasimha" the manifestation is known
To protect the truth and to install justice, He had come
To answer a call of faith that prahallad had shown

"When righteousness would be curbed
And the evil would emerge
Thou shall manifest, in the most unusual form
To install justice and righteousness shall surge"
Says the book of religion
