An Inspiration to a Poet

The time the leaf was born
From the branch of the Peepul tree
Had it any clue of
What it was going to be

It grew, playing with the branches
Their count nearing infinity
Nothing special it was, it was
Just one among the fraternity

Like a child it giggled, when
The rain drops touched its virgin skin
Looking towards the setting summer sun
It used to give it, a sheepish grin

The branches stretched with time
And took the leaf, way so high
Sometimes it looked as if, the
Leaf would get married to the sky

When the adolescent spring crept in
An innocent love took its place
In the heart of the young leaf
Amused with the winds mighty pace

A change in the weather would bring
Along with it, a new story
With the changing winds charming tune
The leaf would dance its way to glory

When the winds sung a silent tune
Leaf stirred as if singing in a choir
With the music of the storming Gail
It jumped like a raging flame of fire

Left and right it swung to the tune
As if drenched in a symphonic mood
It was passionately in love with the wind
No matter the wind was how rude

Unknown to the leave, the wind brought
With it, a ruthless slayer on day
A pebble was picked from the dust
For an innocent love to slay

The pebble hit its juvenile stem
And separated it from the branch
The leaf danced the last dance, the best of its life
It enjoyed its death before it touched the ranch

Its time now for another leaf, to dance
And let its dreams touch the sky
The dead leaf would lie in the dirt
With the dreams of love, Cold and Dry

But for me and for the rest of the world
The leaf isn’t dead yet
It’s breathing in my imagination
It has now become an inspiration to a poet
